Gallery Rifle
At an international level, we shoot the the IGRF 1500 match for team events using centre-fire pistol calibre underlevers (Gallery Rifle Centre Fire) and 22 rimfire semi-auto rifles (Gallery Rifle Smallbore). The 1500 is so called as that is the maximum score, with 150 rounds being fired in several practices that test a variety of GR shooting skills, from different distances and shooting positions, against the clock. There are five shooters in a team, with the aggregate of the four best scores to count.

GRCF Standard is shot with a scoped underlever rifle, usually in .38 or .44 calibre. GRCF Classic is also available for those who enjoy the challenge of shooting such underlevers with open iron sights. There is also a GRCF Open category in which any pistol-calibre rifle can be shot.
The IGRF International Team event is the 1500 GRCF Standard. There are several national and regional competitions where this can be shot in the UK and there is a published UK Ranking List. Other GRCF classes can also be shot in national and regional competitions and may be competed for separately in the individual IGRF World Championship aggregates.

GRSB is shot with a magazine-fed, scoped .22 rimfire semi-automatic rifle.
The key differences from GRCF are that the target is much smaller (50% reduced), you need a minimum of 4 magazines to shoot the longer stages and some of the stages are given less time. Shooters tend to have a preference between GRCF and GRSB, but some are just naturally good at both!

As with GRCF, the IGRF International Team event is the GRSB 1500. There is also a GRSB 1500 UK Ranking List and various national and regional competitions in which GRSB 1500 can be shot.

Other kit 'essentials' typically include belts and pouches to hold spare ammunition; a good countdown timer, a decent hat and of course effective eye and ear protection. The more experienced shooters will also have a well kitted out range bag, a cleaning kit, gun slips, training targets, patches etc.
Where local regulations allow, international hosts will offer both GRSB and GRCF Standard international matches; they have the option to offer GRCF Classic and/or GRCF Open international matches if they wish. At least three international matches take place in most years: one at Bisley during the Phoenix Meeting in May, one in Ireland in July and one in Germany in November. South Africa have also hosted several international matches and one World Championship; Australia will host its first international match in 2027.

The IGRF runs its World Championships once every two years, hosted by member countries in rotation. These always include international team matches for GRSB and GRCF Standard. They also include individual World Championships for GRSB, GRCF Standard; GRCF Classic and/or GRCF Open may also be offered. These individual World Champion awards are made based on the aggregate scores in the 1500, Timed & Precision 1, Multi-Target and 50m Precision events. There are many other disciplines in Gallery Rifle shot both in local Clubs and at Bisley. There are also Home Countries teams in England, Scotland and Wales, who compete against each other throughout the year. With so much on offer, there is bound to be something for everyone.
