Joe was introduced to competitive shooting by his grandfather at a local clay shoot which eventually led to his first job at the largest clay ground in Wales. He was later convinced by a friend to try rifle shooting. The first discipline he learnt was gallery rifle, specifically T&P1 and was hooked right away.

After a few years of attending competitions at Bisley and trying different disciplines, he was asked to join the Welsh Gallery Rifle Team in 2019 and has been part of the team since. In 2022 he was invited by Gary Bowden to join the GB Gallery Rifle Squad and attends as many events both nationally and internationally as possible.

 

His first international competition was the 2023 German Open in small bore, when they won silver, but in 2024 he shot in GRSB at the Phoenix International and the IGRF German International, contributing to GOLD on both occasions.

He is also starting to have an international impact in his individual shooting and won bronze in the GRCF IGRF World Championships in Germany in 2024.

 

Joe is also active off the range and has been secretary of the Welsh Gallery Rifle Club since 2024 and is the Match Director for the annual Welsh Open event held at Haverfordwest Target Club. He is a qualified range officer, instructor and actively supports new shooters at his local club and the events he organises.
