Morné is the current (2026) Captain of the GB GR Team and has been since 2023. He joined the GB Gallery Rifle squad in 2015 and is one of our most experienced and multi-talented team members.
Morné started shooting in primary school with air rifles, moving to .22 precision rifle as part of the school cadet team in secondary school. His scope of firearms experience increased whilst serving in the military. He has now over 50 years of shooting experience and started competing in gallery rifle disciplines in 2004. In 2012 he shot a Phoenix and National Record in the Advancing Target LBR and those records still stand today. He is a member of the England Gallery Rifle Team and has served as their Captain. He is the proud owner of several Grand Master Medals from the Phoenix. Whilst currently focussing on Gallery Rifle, he has also represented GB in WA1500 (revolver & pistol) and Sporting Rifle and also takes part in Target Shotgun, Mini-Rifle, IPSC (both local & abroad), CSR, sporting rifle and casual long distance full-bore (f-class) shooting.
During his tenure as Captain of the GB Gallery Rifle Team, they have won 8 golds, 9 silvers and 1 bronze. A great result, medalling in every match. Mor né has represented GB in Gallery Rifle in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany & South Africa, earning 5 colours and 6 caps. and is also a regular medal winner in individual events.
Away from the firing point, Morné is also a very active contributor. He is an NRA qualified Club Instructor, Regional Instructor, RCO & RCO Assessor, NRA Gallery Rifle Skills instructor and a regular NRA competition RCO. He is a member of Ham & Petersham Rifle and Pistol Club, is their Club Captain and the Match Director for the HPRPC Open.
